The 2024 PT 658 Tour was a great success. The event took place on September 14, and the weather was pleasant. For those who continued boating into the late afternoon, we encountered an occasional soaking shower. Six boats participated, with Doug S. coming all the way from Grants Pass, making him the furthest traveler.

The tour of PT 658, organized by the Columbia-Willamette Chapter of the Antique and Classic Boat Society (CWC-ACBS), was fantastic, with the group splitting into three rotating tour groups. The tour included stops at the Oregon Maritime Museum’s PT 658 Exhibit, where participants explored the Museum and memorabilia section, the foredeck, and the helm and aft deck.

After a lunch of sandwiches and chips, the group had the opportunity to tour LCI-713 (Landing Craft Infantry 713), which is berthed next to PT 658 at the museum. In the Webmaster’s opinion, the LCI-713 was just as impressive as PT 658. Additionally, the group got to hear and smell one of PT 658’s three Packard V12 engines running—a highlight of the day.
